Warehousing Course
- Warehousing scenario in India had just undergone a tectonic shift post GST 2017. The area under warehousing in India increased from a mere 113 million Sq.ft to 170.3 million sq.ft in 2018. It is expected to reach 297 million sq.ft by the year 2021. What drives this phenomenal expansion? Advent of E Commerce companies like Amazon, Flipkart and many others changed the business landscape of retail.
- Supply, Storage and Distribution are the three vital elements of warehousing. It is these three that drive businesses. The major consumption centers are Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkatta, Chennai, Lucknow, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Surat, Indore, Coimbatore and Kochi. But of late not only tier II cities joined this bandwagon but also rural areas pitched in.
- Deliveries in Europe for on line purchase happen within 6 to 12 hours whereas in India it is 2 days plus. Consumers want reduction in this dwell time. Efficiencies in this sector can happen only if skilled manpower is available. Thus there is big skill gap in this sector.
- LSC Courses – The Logistics Skill Council (LSC) identified warehousing, as a sector for which skilling and up skilling is needed. LSC employs three parameters viz employment potential, industry validated skill gap and projected growth for this purpose. On these parameters, Warehousing has been identified as a domain requiring skilled hands to deliver.
